Ing. Petr Škrdla, Ph.D.

Education and Employment:
1992- employed at the Institute of Archaeology, AS CR, Brno. Since 1992, I have been employed (since 1992 as a technician and since 1997 as a researcher) at the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Brno, Královopolská 147, 612 00, Czech Republic. The results of my research have been published in more than 200 articles, a number of them abroad.
1999-2000: A.W. Mellon fellow at the Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, ASOR, Jerusalem. Title of research: Comparison of Near Eastern and Moravian EUP knaping Technologies
1995-1999: University of Technology in Brno, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Title of doctoral thesis: "Evaluation of Stone Tool Production Technologies".
1996: 10 day stay at the University of New Mexico, USA, study of the computer applications and quantitative methods in archaeology
1988-1993: University of Technology in Brno, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Title of Master thesis: "Technological Aspects of Knapped Stone Artifact Production"

1996-2000: Jarošov II, managing the salvage excavation of endangered Gravettian (Evolved Pavlovian stage) open-air site at Lower Morava valley;
1994-2000, 2006-2007: Mokrá lom I-V, managing the salvage excavation of several by limestone quarrying endangered Magdalenian open-air sites at the Southern part of Moravian Karst;
1993-1996: Dolní Vestonice III, a systematic field survey folloved by excavation of Gravettian (Evolved Pavlovian stage) open-air site on the foot of Pavlov Hills;
1989-1992: Předmostí, participation on the Jiří Svoboda's excavation of Middle Paleolithic and Gravettian open-air site;
